“Therapy is a good grocery store.” - Adrienne Posey
From aspirin to phone chargers these are some handy shops to know.
Boots
If you are looking for a pharmacy in Edinburgh one of the easiest to find is Boots. They have two shops one in the Old Town and another one in the New Town. As well as stocking everything you may expect a pharmacy to have they also offer a fantastic meal deal. For under £4 you can get a drink, sandwich or salad and a snack. Because of this Boots is a popular choice for locals and visitors for an affordable lunch.
Mama Said
If you are looking for a convenience store we recommend Mama Said on Cockburn Street. Cockburn Street often makes people giggle, the correct way to pronounce it is COEburn, similar to GlenCOE. Mama Said has everything you would expect a convenience store to have. They specialise in stocking vegan products and also have a wide selection of soft drinks. All in all, a handy little shop.
Supermarkets
Do you need something larger than a convenience store? There are many express supermarkets in Edinburgh. They are all very similar to one another. Several are located centrally on Clerk Street or South Bridge. These well stocked shops have just about anything you might need. They are very useful if you are in a self-catering apartment. They also often have good deals on whisky. Don't forget to bring your ID!
Simply Fix It
Lost charger? Broken phone? These things happen. A simple fix is to visit Simply Fix It. This is a small electrical shop located on the Waverley Steps besides the train station. Because of the shops location you are a short walk from either Princes Street Gardens or the Scottish National Gallery. As a result of this convenient location you will have plenty to do should you need to wait for a repair.
Amusing stroll in Edinburgh. Lovely tour, Ben being a hilarious guide, telling things you don't find in a tourist book, interesting stories, showing hidden gems. Perfect, thanks.
