Edinburgh Markets

“Flea markets are fun because they are the ultimate treasure hunt.” – Lara Spencer

Support locals by shopping local. Markets are the best place for authentic local produce.

The Edinburgh Farmers Market

Produce from around Scotland

In the shadow of Edinburgh Castle you will find the Edinburgh Farmers Market on Castle Terrace. It runs from 10am until 2pm each Saturday. Lloyd Grossman once called this award-winning market as unquestionably being one of the best in the world. With over 18 years’ experience this is Edinburgh’s longest running market. With over 35 stalls the farmers market has grown to showcase a wide range of locally made products.

Stockbridge Market

Trendy and hip

It may be small in size but it has a wide range of vendors. From locally made soap to fresh paella you will find something for just about everyone here. Tucket into Jubilee Gardens you will find the Stockbridge Market.  The market runs every Sunday from 10am until 5pm.

The Grassmarket

Market in the Grassmarket.

Yes, that’s its name. It was originally called the Greater Grassmarket! It hosts both local and international stalls with a great lunch selection. The market runs every Saturday between 10am and 5pm and you will find a diverse range of venders here. Conveniently the market is just a short walk from the Edinburgh Farmers Market. This means you also have the opportunity to double up on your market visits. You will also find many great shops and pubs in the Grassmarket. We have to recommend a visit to Marys Milk Bar for the best ice cream in town.

The Pitt Market

For all you foodies out there!

This is Edinburgh’s award-winning street food market. The Pitt started off as a monthly event but due to high demand it now runs almost weekly. Drawing venders from across the country in order to offer a wide range of food and drink. There is often live music to keep you entertained as you eat. The opening times vary throughout the year so we recommend checking their website in advance.

The Old Tolbooth Market

Crafts made on site. Beer, food and souvenirs.

One of Edinburgh’s newest markets. It is located just off of the Canongate on the Royal Mile. The market has both indoor and outdoor seating and has a licensed bar. For this reason it is great to visit year-round. There are also several craft stalls. We recommend you try the haggis whilst you are there. It is without a doubt one of the best in town.
