About Our National Museum of Scotland Tour
This Museum can be broadly split into two halves. The Victorian building; covering natural and global history alongside the sciences, and the modern building which has over six floors dedicated to Scottish history. It’s this modern building where we spend most of the tour learning about Scotland’s history.
Your first stop will be the grand Victorian atrium with its stunning four-story high exhibition space. Here you will be given an introduction to the museum and also have an opportunity to take photos.
Then, on the way towards the modern building, we will pass and introduce Dolly the Sheep. Only when we get to the modern section, will your tour begin in earnest.
We begin in the basement level which concerns itself with the pre-human history of Scotland. Following this we will rise through each of the different levels of the museum. Through this we will span thousands of years of Scottish history right up to the modern day.
This tour uses the fantastic museum collections (which have in excess of 12 million items) as great props to supplement the history of Scotland.
As always, this tour is focussed around storytelling. We firmly believe that it is through storytelling that people truly learn the most. It is the human touch we add that really brings the museum to life. So much more than simply walking around by yourself.
